To add or update the description on your YouTube Shorts videos, follow these steps:
Step 1: Access YouTube Studio
- Log into YouTube using your Google account.
- Go to YouTube Studio by clicking on your profile picture at the top right corner and selecting YouTube Studio.
Step 2: Locate Your Shorts Videos
- In YouTube Studio, on the left-hand menu, click on Content. This will show all your uploaded videos, including Shorts.
- Scroll through or use the search bar to find the Shorts videos you want to update.
Step 3: Edit a Shorts Video Description
- Once you've found the Shorts video you want to update, click on the pencil icon (Edit) next to the video title.
- This will open the video details page.
- Under the Video Description box, update or add a description for your Shorts video.
- You can add information like keywords, hashtags, or calls to action.
- YouTube allows up to 5,000 characters for the description, but a brief and clear description is better.
- Include relevant hashtags (e.g., #shorts) to help increase discoverability.
Step 4: Save Your Changes
- After editing the description, scroll down and click Save at the top right of the screen.
Step 5: Bulk Update Descriptions (Optional)
If you want to update the descriptions for multiple Shorts videos at once:
- In YouTube Studio, go to the Content tab.
- Select multiple videos by checking the boxes next to them.
- Click the pencil icon at the top to edit multiple videos.
- From there, you can update the description in bulk or add a common description to all selected videos.
- Don’t forget to click Save to apply the changes.
Additional Tips:
- Ensure your Shorts video description is relevant to the content and contains useful keywords for better discoverability.
- You can also add timestamps, links, or external resources in the description for added value.
- Use the #Shorts hashtag to help YouTube categorize your video as part of the Shorts platform, even if the video is under 60 seconds.
