» #eTubeGuide Video Description :
To access and manage permissions for a Brand Account on YouTube (which is typically used for business or brand channels), you need to be an account owner or have been granted access by the owner. Here’s how you can manage permissions for a Brand Account and give others access to your YouTube channel:
Step 1: Verify Your Brand Account
- Sign in to your Google Account that has access to the YouTube Brand Account.
- Go to YouTube Studio at studio.youtube.com.
- On the top-right corner of YouTube Studio, click on your profile icon and check if you’re signed in with the Brand Account.
- If you’re signed in with the Brand Account, you’ll see the channel’s name under your profile.
Step 2: Access Brand Account Permissions
To manage or change permissions for a Brand Account (limited to YouTube), follow these steps:
1. Open Google Account Settings
- Go to your Google Account settings:
- Go to Google Account.
- Under Account settings, select Data & Privacy.
2. Go to Brand Account Management
- Scroll down and under Account Settings, look for Brand Accounts.
- Click Manage Your Brand Accounts.
- Here you’ll see all the Brand Accounts you have access to. Select the Brand Account linked to your YouTube channel.
3. Manage Permissions
- Once you’re in the Brand Account Settings page, click on the Manage Permissions option. This will take you to the permissions screen where you can add or change users.
4. Add or Remove Permissions
You will see a list of people who currently have access to your Brand Account, along with their roles (such as Owner, Manager, or Viewer).
To add a new user:
- Click on the Invite new users button.
- Enter the email address of the person you want to add.
- Choose a role for the user:
- Owner: Full access, can add/remove others, manage settings, and delete the channel.
- Manager: Can manage most features, but cannot remove the owner or delete the account.
- Viewer: Only can view the channel but cannot manage content or settings.
- Click Invite to send the invitation.
To remove a user:
- Click on the three dots (menu) next to the user’s name.
- Select Remove to revoke access.
5. Confirm Changes
- The invited person will receive an email to confirm their access to the Brand Account.
- Once confirmed, they’ll have access to the YouTube Brand Account based on the role you've assigned them.
Step 3: Additional Access via YouTube Studio
For YouTube-specific permissions, once someone is added as a Manager or Owner via the Google Account settings (as outlined above), they will automatically have access to YouTube Studio for managing videos, analytics, and settings.
You can access their permissions directly in YouTube Studio under the Settings > Permissions section, where you can see the roles assigned and change them if needed.
Step 4: Managing Permissions from YouTube Studio
- In YouTube Studio, go to Settings (gear icon in the left sidebar).
- Select the Permissions tab.
- Here you can view, add, or remove permissions for users who have access to the YouTube channel.
- You can also send an invitation for new users to manage the channel.
Important Notes
- YouTube Brand Accounts are linked to Google Accounts, so any changes to the Brand Account permissions will affect the YouTube channel associated with it.
- Owners have the highest level of control, while Managers can edit content, analytics, and interact with viewers but have fewer permissions than Owners. Viewers can only see content.
- If you’re a Manager, you might not have access to certain advanced settings like changing the channel’s name, deleting the account, or transferring ownership.
By following these steps, you can effectively manage permissions for your YouTube Brand Account and control who has access to the channel’s features and settings.
